Thank you for checking out my blog! Film Actually was founded in December 2009 upon the recommendation of a close friend. She knew my obsession of movies and came up with the great idea that I should start writing. I haven't looked back since and I now blog on a regular basis. Here's an overview of all of the regular features you can find at Film Actually:
Ever so often I watch a film that I really hate (less than 3 out of 5 stars). Considering how generous I am with my ratings, the film must really suck to get this tag.
Best of the Year
In this feature I list all of my favourite films for a specific year. The ranking includes every film that I gave a 5-star rating.
In this feature, I highlight some upcoming films that interest me. Check this space in September, when I highlight the major Oscar contenders. For 2 years running, I haven't missed a Best Picture nominee yet!
This feature is hosted by Nathaniel Rogers from The Film Experience. It's a blog-a-thon where participating blogs watch the selected film and blog about their favourite shot. If you have a blog yourself, join in on the fun! This seasonal feature hits on Wednesdays.
I don't review every movie I watch, but if there's a film that really stands out, then it gets the "Movie of the Week" treatment. These reviews are posted every Monday.
In an attempt to force myself to watch older films, I created this series "Oldie Goldies". These posts highlight the outstanding production values of classic films that I love. Expect this feature every Wednesday when "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" is on hiatus.
As an avid follower of the Oscar season, one of the main purposes of this blog is to keep up with all the major developments in the awards season. This feature mainly focuses on awards predictions/coverage and reviews of potential best picture nominees.
